narrowest width (1,003 mm) is published on the VW Newsroom technical-data page for the Golf R Estate. It is applied here because the R Estate shares the Golf Estate body and every other published luggage figure (1,062 / 1,845 mm, 611 l) is identical; this is a cross-variant application, not a separate measurement of the standard Golf Estate.
VW Newsroom Golf R Estate page also lists 'Height of open boot lid to ground 2,047 mm' (exterior clearance, not a boot dimension).
Boot height (620 mm to luggage cover / 800 mm to roof), tailgate opening (1035 x 620 mm), loading sill height (610 mm on R Variant / 630 mm on 2.0 TDI R-Line; open tailgate height 1895 mm), and manufacturer payload (540 kg on 2.0 TDI R-Line / 489 kg on R Variant) verified from ADAC Autotest AT6490 (May 2025, pp. 4 & 13) and ADAC Autotest Golf Variant 2.0 TDI R-Line (April 2021, pp. 3 & 12).
