Will a mattress fit in my car?
A conventional mattress is large and flexible, but we treat it as rigid: we never assume it can be folded or squashed. Rolled mattresses are checked using their package size.
Your car
Car not listed or different generation? — it takes about two minutes.
Measure your own car (how to measure). Leave anything you can't measure blank — we'll tell you what's missing rather than guess.
Advanced: tapers and sloping tailgates
If the opening is narrower at the top, or the height is lower near a sloping tailgate, enter the smaller figures here. The conservative check uses the smaller of each pair.

Your mattress
Rolled mattresses are usually delivered in a box or roll. Enter the package size from the label or listing. For a roll, enter its length and use the roll diameter for both width and height.
Flat mattresses
Most flat mattresses are too long and wide to go inside an ordinary car, even with the seats folded — the width of a double (about 135 cm) or a US full (54 in) exceeds the gap between the wheel arches of most cars. If the calculator finds no fit, consider delivery, a van, or a rolled mattress.
Rolled and boxed mattresses
Roll-packed mattresses are compressed and rolled at the factory. Enter the package size from the label or listing; for a cylindrical roll use the roll diameter for both width and height. Once unpacked, most cannot be re-rolled to the same size.
Nominal sizes
The preset sizes use widely published nominal bed sizes (UK single 90 × 190 cm, double 135 × 190 cm, king 150 × 200 cm; US twin 38 × 75 in, full 54 × 75 in, queen 60 × 80 in). Actual mattresses vary, and thickness varies a lot — measure yours.
We don’t recommend carrying mattresses on a car roof without suitable roof bars and proper securing; follow the cargo safety guide.
