How many moving boxes fit in my car?
Enter your box sizes and quantities, or use “How many of these fit?” for a single box size. Starting sizes are illustrative — moving boxes aren’t standardised.
Your car
Car not listed or different generation? — it takes about two minutes.
Measure your own car (how to measure). Leave anything you can't measure blank — we'll tell you what's missing rather than guess.
Advanced: tapers and sloping tailgates
If the opening is narrower at the top, or the height is lower near a sloping tailgate, enter the smaller figures here. The conservative check uses the smaller of each pair.

Your boxes
Common items use illustrative starting sizes — replace them with your real measurements.
Box sizes vary
There is no universal standard for “small”, “medium” or “large” moving boxes — sizes vary between suppliers and countries. The pre-filled rows are illustrative starting points; measure your own boxes and replace them.
Why the estimate is an upper-end figure
The heuristic packs rectangular boxes into a rectangular space. Real boots have wheel arches, sloping seatbacks and tailgates, and you need some room to manoeuvre boxes in. Treat the number as optimistic, and plan for fewer boxes per trip.
Plan your trips
- Measure your boot (with the seats folded if you can travel without rear passengers).
- Enter each box size and the total quantity.
- Check how many were placed — the rest will need another trip.
- Keep heavy boxes (books, kitchenware) low and against the seatbacks.
